A Celebrant is a trained professional who will work with you to create a bespoke ceremony based on your unique requirements.

At Arena do Tempo we train all our Celebrants personally and are the only provider to work with a University to develop the first officially recognised Post Graduate in Symbolic Ceremonies in Portugal.

Yes! We love performing same-sex ceremonies.  In fact, Arena do Tempo is recommended by the LGBT Association of Portugal ILGA PORTUGAL - Intervenção Lésbica, Gay, Bissexual, Trans e Intersexo.

Unfortunately, symbolic ceremonies in Portugal have no official recognition and the legal requirements of marriage or adoption etc. will need to be performed at the appropriate agency in your home country or follow this link to the Portuguese Registry Office (IRN).

With our excellent team of Celebrants, we are able to provide ceremonies in:

At Arena do Tempo, we have complete freedom to create a ceremony that meets your unique requirements.  

If you would like to include a prayer or spiritual element in your ceremony, we will be delighted to facilitate this for you.  

If you would like a Humanist Ceremony, we are the only agency in Portugal officially working with the Humanists and as such can offer you a non-religious ceremony based on their philosophical belief system.  

Working with Arena do Tempo covers the gamut of possibilities and offers you the best of both worlds in terms of including the ceremonial elements that will make your day unforgettable and tailored exactly to you.

Arena do Tempo has celebrants located throughout continental Portugal (and the Azores).  This means there are no limits to where you can choose to celebrate!  

A cliff-top overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, a castle ruin, a stately home or palace, a vineyard against the setting sun.  You choose the venue and we will be there*

*N.B. there is a travel cost associated with venues 30 km out of the metropolitan centres.

The cost of our Ceremonies begins at €475.  

When you provide us with details of your needs, for example:

• location,
• in which languages, 
• number of guests, 
• whether there will be a rehearsal etc.

we will provide you with a budget tailored to your ceremony.

The price of the Ceremony includes:

• Zoom or WhatsApp meetings to discuss what your celebration is all about and begin the process of designing your ceremony.
• The collaborative creation of a script for the Ceremony (approved by you).
• Celebration of the Ceremony.
• Electronic delivery of the Final Script.

The preferred method is to receive payment by bank transfer as this facilitates the emission of the appropriate tax documentation for you.

In order to reserve your ceremony, Arena do Tempo will invoice you.  This invoice includes your ...

• Full name
• Address
• Passport number
• Ceremony date and Venue

 When you receive your invoice, you will need to pay 50% of the cost of the Ceremony and then your reservation will be complete.

The final 50% can be paid in the week before the Ceremony.

For cancellations made 4 months before the date of the Ceremony, we refund 50% of the amount paid.
